Dr. Katrin Merhof

Helpdesk on Business and Human Rights

Dr Katrin Merhof has been an advisor at the Helpdesk on Business and Human Rights since 2024. Previously, she advised the KfW Development Bank as an in-house lawyer. There she was responsible for structuring new financing projects and drafting and negotiating contracts with KfW's partners in Asia, Africa and Latin America. She also worked as a consultant in the Federal Chancellery, where she was responsible for foreign trade issues. She focussed on the interaction between foreign trade and development policy, international debt, foreign trade promotion and financing instruments and the area of business and human rights.

For her doctoral thesis on the protection of labour rights in the Colombian flower industry, she was awarded the prize for practice-relevant development research by the Verein für Socialpolitik and KfW.
