The new year marks the start of the new trade fair season for the Import Promotion Desk (IPD). At the beginning of February, for example, the international fruit trade industry will meet at the ‘Fruit Logistica’ in Berlin. The IPD will once again be there with a stand. Here, over 40 companies from the IPD programme from 12 partner countries will meet European buyers, present their products and services and, ideally, agree on a collaboration. The IPD also uses the industry meeting point to draw attention to the potential of foreign trade for economic development in the IPD partner countries as well as the economic participation of women. Together with its partners from the professional organisation ‘Global Women Fresh’ (GWF) and the ‘Fruit Logistica’ trade fair, the IPD invites you to the ‘Women's Panel and Networking Event’ on 7 February 2025.

Cooperation with Global Women Fresh

The event at Fruit Logistica is the first in the partnership between IPD and Global Women Fresh. The objective is to develop solutions for the challenges faced by women in global trade. ‘We are looking forward to working closely with Global Women Fresh,’ says Tabea Mack, Team Leader of the Sourcing + Markets department at IPD. ‘As IPD, we know the complex market requirements and the need for sustainable trade partnerships. Global Women Fresh focuses on empowering women in the fruit and vegetable sector and is therefore the ideal partner. Together we want to improve opportunities for women and offer them a platform to exchange ideas, develop new ideas and make business contacts. This will strengthen their position in a male-dominated industry.’

Diana Freile, Manager of Irubi Terra, will be taking part in the Fruit Logistica panel. The women-run company from Ecuador produces avocados and has been successfully supported by the IPD in its export business for three years. The entrepreneur is committed to the further training of employees in the company and supports women in the region. Irubi Terra impressively demonstrates that companies that integrate women on an equal footing are more successful on the market.

As part of SIAL 2024 in Paris - the world's leading food trade fair - the IPD invited female entrepreneurs and female specialists in foreign trade to a networking event. The event was very well received. The aim of the IPD is to build a network that promotes cooperation between women in international trade. More information on the IPD's commitment see here.

Trade fairs and industry meetings in almost all sectors

The trade fair season for the IPD sectors begins in January. In addition to Fruit Logistica, the IPD also has large exhibition stands at Biofach. This year, for the 10th time, the IPD and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will be presenting organic produce from developing and newly industrialising countries.

Almost all sectors meet in spring for their trade fairs. These are key dates for IPD companies to present their products and services to an international audience and lay the foundations for business deals and sustainable trade partnerships.
