Ready to enter the EU market with the IPD training programme

Many companies in developing countries and emerging economies want to export to Europe. However, they often lack contacts and knowledge of the EU market’s special requirements. Training provided by the Import Promotion Desk (IPD) therefore focuses on preparation for the European market. Quality standards, the necessary certificates and market knowledge – en route to Europe, the companies in the IPD programme have many hurdles to overcome. In the last few years, environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria have joined the list of requirements that exporters from developing countries and emerging economies need to meet for successful market entry.
The IPD team supports partner companies with training measures for staff on how to access the EU market. The training programme includes sessions on international standards, norms and certificates in addition to process and product documentation. The IPD also offers workshops in which staff can develop company-specific action plans for accessing the EU market. Furthermore, the IPD team provides individual coaching during implementation.
Another important topic is optimisation of sales and customer communication. Reliable delivery and transparent communication are essential for successful international business relationships. The IPD also supports its companies with marketing and sales meetings, as required. In pre-fair workshops, exhibitors at an international trade fair receive preparation, for example on the upcoming agenda at the fair, their company presence, product presentation and meetings with customers.

The ESG training primarily focuses on demonstrating the basic importance of responsible business conduct and imparting a holistic understanding of sustainability. In e-learning courses and regular training sessions, the IPD informs companies on the current legal frameworks, market requirements and relevant certificates with regard to environmental and social standards. Staff in the IPD companies are trained on how to identify ESG risks and opportunities and develop a sustainability strategy for their businesses.
The IPD offers training in the form of webinars, group workshops and individual coaching. The companies can also access an IPD e-learning platform. In addition, the IPD works with business support organisations in its partner countries to organise additional training for staff at export companies.
