On 12/02/2021, the Agency for Business & Economic Development (AWE) will present a study financed by theFederal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on the status and development prospects of the dairy and meat industries in Africa at the EuroTier 2021 trade fair.
An expert team commissioned by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH assessed the market potentials of milk and meat value chains in six African countries. The aim of the study was to better understand how investments in technology, innovation and advisory services can strengthen the local value chains in the dairy and meat industries and at the same time take development policy issues into account. The study also highlights how African and European investors can contribute to the inclusive and sustainable modernization of the meat and dairy industry in Africa. The study focuses on the six reform partner countries of German development cooperation (Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia), in which there is a rapid increase in demand due to population growth, urbanization and the rising average income of households according to meat and dairy products.
