This engaging webinar, co-hosted by Siemens Stiftung and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), will showcase how pioneering female social entrepreneurs from Africa and Europe are transforming the menstrual health sector through innovative solutions and impactful networks. Learn from their experiences – challenges as well as success factors – and explore the latest research driving change in the Global South and North.

The webinar will be hosted on Academy for Impact,  a new learning platform by Siemens Stiftung, designed to support social entrepreneurs and innovators around the globe in building and scaling social business models that create value for both people and the planet.

  • Silvia Fernández Castro (Research Economist, LMU Munich, Germany)
    She will provide insights on how social stigma and taboos affect economic development.
  • Blandine Umuziranenge (Founder & CEO, Kosmotive, Rwanda)
    Founder of Kosmotive in 2014, Blandine has worked to improve reproductive, maternal, and child health across Rwanda and Africa.
  • Bettina Steinbrugger (Co-Founder & CEO, “erdbeerwoche,” author of “Bloody Business,” Austria)
    Her startup focuses on breaking the taboo surrounding menstruation while promoting sustainability in menstrual health products and services since 2011.
  • Nancy Nyaleso (Executive Director, Empower HER Initiative, Kenya)
    She has streamlined financing, real-time tracking, and last-mile distribution of period products through the groundbreaking e-wallet DIGNIFY since 2019.
