Recruit ASApreneurs: international young professionals for your project

Engagement Global’s ASA programme enables you to recruit talented individuals for your sustainable projects and strengthen international cooperation.

Many German companies with international operations are keen to implement specific sustainability goals in their product development, supply chains, market access or partnerships. This requires fresh perspectives, innovative ideas and specialist knowledge.

This is precisely where the programme’s ASApreneurs component comes in. Working with your project partner from an African, Asian, Latin American or South-East European partner country, you submit a proposal for a practical project. This project could be for the market launch or scaling of sustainable products and materials, or the establishment of fair and transparent delivery and sales models, for example.

Young professionals between the ages of 21 and 30 then apply to take on tasks in support of your project. You can choose one of two formats:

  • ASApreneurs basic: You work with participants from Germany.
  • ASApreneurs global: You work with participants from Germany and an African, Asian, Latin American or South-East European country.

ASApreneurs participants support your project over a six-month period: three months in Germany and three months with your project partner in the partner country.

How ASApreneurs can benefit your company

  • You gain young professionals with an international interest
  • You sharpen your profile as a forward-looking employer
  • You create new starting points for international partnerships
  • You benefit from fresh perspectives – participants bring up-to-date knowledge, new methods and intercultural experience to the table, and ask the right questions to move projects forward more quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What role do companies in the ASA programme play?
  • Your business or organisational approach should align with sustainable development objectives
  • You already work with an organisation in Africa, Asia, Latin America or South-East Europe
  • You work with your partner company to define suitable project tasks for the young professionals during their six-month project involvement
  • You are involved in approaching suitable candidates and after the shortlisting process you take the final decision
  • You provide technical support to participants, integrate them into organisational processes and supply them with the necessary equipment/materials
  • You remunerate participants with a suitable scholarship
Who participates in the ASApreneur programme?

ASApreneurs participants are young professionals from Germany and/or a partner country who are keen to take on responsibility in a project context. They include students, university graduates and individuals with vocational qualifications. They spend six months supporting a sustainability-focused project defined by you. It is important to note that participants are not experts, but rather learners with a relevant educational background who take on tasks and develop their skills within your project team. If you provide them with structured support and meaningful responsibilities, then both you and they will get the most out of the project.

Additional contribution for ASApreneurs global:
  • You help in arranging for an individual from the partner country to participate in the project (entry to the country/visa application, accommodation, etc.) and help in covering the resulting expenses.
  • The selection process in the partner country is managed through your partner structure.
  • Excellent English skills are required for the provision of programme support.
What are the benefits to you as a participating company?

The ASA programme enables you to drive your sustainability-related project forward, enhancing your partnerships, visibility and employer appeal in the process.

The benefits to you:

  • Project progress: you get a new topic off the ground or consolidate an existing initiative
  • Talent acquisition: you get to know dedicated young professionals who become an asset to your team and help shoulder its workload
  • Stronger cooperation links: you grow your international relationships and establish reliable interfaces with partners
  • Networking and presence: you raise your profile in an environment where sustainable development and responsible entrepreneurship meet
  • Change of perspective: you benefit from fresh approaches, methods and questions that often lead to better processes
What is the ASA programme?

The ASA programme provides a framework for young professionals to gain practical experience in an international context. It connects organisations with young people wishing to apply their training and knowledge in specific sustainability-related tasks, and provides preparatory and support for both parties.

How does the ASA programme support you?

The ASA programme offers you

  • assistance with refining and structuring your project idea
  • organisation of the selection process for participants from Germany
  • qualifying preparation and support formats for participants
  • payment of travel expenses and insurance costs for the project phase abroad
  • for ASApreneurs global: coordination briefings for project partners and assistance with visa applications for the period in Germany
  • for innovative start-ups: if the minimum remuneration amount cannot be covered, it is possible to apply for a grant.

Participation in ASApreneurs is fostering a new generation of changemakers.
