Information on the processing of data collected

As the central point of contact (“one-stop shop”) for development cooperation, the AWE is financed by the BMZ. It is supported by the DEG Impulse gGmbH and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular to contribute to sustainable development in developing and emerging countries through their economic success. The AWE advises companies and helps them to look for financing and funding instruments. Together with its supporters and partners, the agency includes SMEs in particular in its reliable international network of development cooperation. The advice is tailored and free of charge.

The AWE processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Regulation (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG). Personal data include, for example, names, addresses, email addresses and user behaviour.

AWE only processes personal data to the extent necessary. Which data are required and processed for which purpose and on what basis is largely determined by the type of service you use or the purpose for which the data is required.

To store personal information we use a service from Microsoft Dynamics.

If you have subscribed to any of our services, you may cancel your subscription at any time and will be given an easy way to do so. You can either click in the email you receive to unsubscribe or send your request to beratung@wirtschaft-entwicklung.de.

User analysis

The analysis services Matomo and etracker are used to optimise the user experience on the website of the Agency for Business and Economic Development. Both record visits without cookies by default. You decide in the cookie banner whether the services may additionally set cookies; you can change your selection at any time in the “Cookie settings”. You can object to your visit being recorded altogether at the bottom of this page under “Objection to reach analysis”.

Analysis service Matomo

The website of the Agency for Business and Economic Development uses the open-source web analysis software Matomo to analyse usage data. Matomo runs on a server of a hosting provider commissioned by us (netcup GmbH, Karlsruhe; server location: data centre in Nuremberg, Germany). A data processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 GDPR has been concluded with the provider. The data collected is not transferred to the manufacturer of Matomo or to any other third party. Before it is stored, the IP address is anonymised by truncation.

Without your consent (default setting), Matomo records usage without cookies. The following data is processed:

  • IP address (truncated)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Pages visited
  • Duration of the visit
  • Page loading time

Individual visits are not recognised across several sessions. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring reach and improving our services (Article 6 (1) f GDPR).

If you consent in the cookie banner, Matomo additionally sets cookies: _pk_id (recognition, lifetime 13 months), _pk_ref (origin of the visit, lifetime 6 months) and _pk_ses (session, lifetime 30 minutes). Technical characteristics of your browser such as the screen resolution are then also recorded. In this case, the legal basis is your consent (Section 25 (1) TDDDG, Article 6 (1) a GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Article 7 (3) GDPR).

The raw data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the reach analysis. Aggregated statistics without any personal reference remain stored.

In the “Cookie settings” you can object to Matomo setting cookies at any time; recording without cookies then continues. You can object to Matomo recording your visit altogether at the bottom of this page under “Objection to reach analysis” (Article 21 GDPR).

Analysis service etracker

The website of the Agency for Business and Economic Development uses services of etracker GmbH, Hamburg, Germany (www.etracker.com) to analyse usage data. The data generated with etracker is processed and stored by etracker on behalf of GIZ exclusively in Germany. A data processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 GDPR has been concluded with etracker. The IP address is truncated before it is stored; we are unable to attribute the data to you personally.

Without your consent (default setting), etracker records usage without analysis cookies: visits are attributed on the server side using a session identifier that is valid for a maximum of 24 hours. Only technically necessary entries are stored in your browser, for example for the objection function (lifetime 180 days). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring reach and improving our services (Article 6 (1) f GDPR).

If you consent in the cookie banner, etracker sets cookies with a lifetime of up to 12 months to recognise returning visits.

Further information on data protection at etracker can be found here: https://www.etracker.com/en/data-privacy/.

In the “Cookie settings” you can object to etracker setting cookies at any time; recording without cookies then continues. You can object to etracker recording your visit altogether at the bottom of this page under “Objection to reach analysis” (Article 21 GDPR). Objecting has no adverse consequences.

Information on objection

In the cookie banner you only object to cookies being set; recording without cookies then continues. To object to your visit being recorded altogether, use the objection function at the bottom of this page.

Your selection in the cookie banner and your objection are stored in your browser. For them to take effect, they must be made on every device and in every browser you use. If all cookies and website data are deleted, your selection is deleted as well and must be made again.

If the analysis services are not loaded, for example because a browser extension blocks them, no data is recorded; the objection function is then not displayed.
