We make your project our own
German and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are brimming with ideas and solutions that are in demand far beyond their own borders. Many companies offer specialist knowledge, technologies and services that are urgently needed in developing countries and emerging economies. Companies that get involved can discover new markets – for clean energy, smart agricultural technology or digital applications, for example. They find ambitious partners and, at the same time, help to build a more sustainable future.
If you are ready to grow your business in the Global South, the Agency for Business and Economic and Development (AWE) is your first port of call. We will listen to your plans and then promote them. We are here to support you with advice and practical assistance. We know the right people to speak to in Germany and in our partner countries. We won’t leave you on your own, but will accompany you through all stages of your project.
How do our advisory services work?
You get in touch with us for an initial consultation
Our team of around 50 experts in over 20 countries can advise you in English, Spanish, French or German. Choose the right contact person for you, then give us a call or send us an email. Or you can just use our contact form.
We would also be happy to arrange a face-to-face meeting, either at our office in Berlin or at your company’s premises in Germany.
Contact formWe advise you about funding and financing
We are a team of experts with many years of practical experience in various regions (Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe) and sectors (e.g. agriculture, energy, digitalisation and vocational training). You can rely on our expertise.
When you contact us, we will first take the time to fully understand your needs: what are your objectives, what kinds of financing or funding are appropriate, and what partners could support you?
For an initial overview of potential funding and financing solutions, you can consult the developing countries funding and financing database. Together, we will then work out which funding options are best suited to you and your project.
Funding and financing databaseWe refer you to funding institutions and networks
Once you know which funding options are appropriate, we will put you in touch with the relevant funding bodies. In Germany, for example, we work closely with leading institutions, including the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) mbH of the KfW banking group.
We also put you in touch with the relevant contacts. Specific examples might include business contacts as well as contact points at embassies or the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad in your planned foreign location.
Assistance with human rights due diligence
We will support you in establishing sustainable supply chains and complying with environmental and social standards. Through GIZ’s Helpdesk on Business and Human Rights, we offer practical online tools, events, training courses, case studies and in-depth background information that will enable you reliably to fulfil your due diligence obligations.
